1. 1On the console: Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > PlayStation Plus > turn off auto-renew.
2. 2On the web: sign in at playstation.com > Account Settings > Subscriptions.
3. 3Cloud saves and monthly games stay only while the subscription is live.
4. 4Download anything from PS Plus storage you want to keep before it lapses.

Cancelled and still charged?

Then the charge is not coming from PlayStation Plus Essential. Whoever took your money holds the subscription — if you subscribed inside an app, it is the app store, and only the app store can stop it.
